Birds. Birds. Birds.

Monday, February 21, 2011

My backyard has worked wonderful for mini-adventures, and just for creating and playing with my new lens. (70-300 f/4). Its a little slice of heaven out there, all green and crisp. I am elated to share it with the real stars of this blog post, the birds!
Birds frequent the yard, sitting peacefully, squabbling among one another and doing day to day bird activities. I have made a little study out of them with my new lens over the last few weeks...
Before I ramble, on to the birds.
A simple little finch grazing.
Unidentified, but I sure am envious of this beautiful bird.
Dropping in for a snack. One of my many, many, not so successful ploys to attract birds to photograph

The Black Phoebe. One of my favorite birds, and also the most common in my yard. These birds are insect eaters!
Another common bird in the yard, the Emerald Hummingbird.

Not from my yard. But could not help putting this one in.
Another Black Phoebe looking thoughtful.
Hummingbird in blue space.
In the backyard after school one day, sharing time with the Black Phoebe's, and I hear a SCREECH SCREECH! I look up and have time to take two frames, this being one of them.
A Black Phoebe looking extra friendly.
Thats all for today, much more to come, please keep checking back!
God Bless.

I Have Awoken From My Hibernation....

Let this be a written agreement with everyone that reads/ looks at this that I will not neglect this blog anymore!
New stuff....tonight!

Call It a Rainy Day.

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Here is an interim adventure for everybody. Promising myself to get more up on here, had a monday night adventure this week, a post very soon.
Ahh, this week, how inspiring it has been. The surf has been crazy, two back to back days of head high surf, pushing me. Running is exploding into my life, put in 18 miles on Tuesday and Wednesday, more today. Good food, work getting done, Common Market, Victor Shade (RA Scion) driving me on musically.
But for today, thunderclaps in calculus class, and a warm group of kids running through the rain during practice today. We San Diegans get really excited over rain, and even more excited at thunder and lightning.
So before I get a little too long winded, and have to actually describe this through words.....

Pictures:
Welcome

Meet Carmen.

My first rainbow shot

Thanks for looking, much more to come, check back.

Some of my photos from the show, plus a few others from the night, hope you enjoy.
The show went off, really enjoyed shooting it. Almost got taken out with my camera in my hands, but i kept it together. Lessons were learned, but I actually felt good about it.
Alright, lets let the images talk now:
Chicken was the warm-up.
Vaughn on guest vocals.

The only this thats missing is that savage guy on the drums...
Oh there he is...wait...crap. He was just too fast.

There is it Nick, one generic default pic coming right up. (feel free to steal this)
Sebastian and Sal.

MAD respect for you guys.
The animals meet.
Yes, thats an animal style double-double and animal style frys. This is what I live off.

You can add your own caption here...
Hope you enjoyed.
Great night, great bands, big shoutout to all their hardwork. Disposable Being, Jeremiah Johnson, Awaken the Alchemist, Globe and Beast, you guys killed it.

San Diego Botanical Gardens Photoventure

Saturday, September 4, 2010

Alright, hopefully in the future it wont take this much time between adventure and blog post. Anyways, on September 2nd, Remy and I took a long awaited trip up to Encinitas to see the San Diego Botanical Gardens. Last time I was there was with my family when I was a very little boy, and the gardens were called Quail Botanical Gardens.
We has a blast, and let me just say that all the beauty of these gardens did not go to waste.
So lets let the pictures do the explaining.
Go.
A water feature, really trying to head towards a cross-processed film look in post.
Big fat cliche. but eh, maybe I like it.
Munching. By this time in the trip I was starving.

I could do an entire new blog post on the PLETHORA of benches that were at the gardens. Consider this a favor.
Plant People. How do I become one?

Even MORE starving now.
And the biggest chair ever.
Well, there it is, hopefully not too travelogue-y for you.
School starts very soon, many more blog posts to come, so adventures and some thoughts/discussion topics and a ton of other things. Thanks for reading, keep checking back.
Stay Up
And
God Bless your Efforts.

Starting Point

Monday, August 30, 2010

Really just need to get this one out of the way. Just need a starting point for this whole blog thing.
So here we go...
This is my first blog, and my first blog post. Bear with me.
This blog is meant as a base for me. To share my art, my adventures, my inspirations and my thoughts on a plethora of subjects. Posts will have no set length, and may range from a single photo to a wall of text. I will try my best to let my photos do the explaining, with minimal input from me, because I recognize that my talents lie in light not words. Follow along with me, add your own input in the comments and lets see what happens.
Photography has been in my life for as long as i can remember, but has just recently become a major part of my life, and a major part of my future plans. I would love to do this for the rest of my life, but realize the complications. First off, I have a very troubled time asking for money for my work, as I feel that photography is a real pleasure for me, and I would be doing it even if I wasn't getting paid (not that I am). Just for one person in this massive world to see my art and remark, or feel moved on its purpose or particular show of beauty fills me with enough energy to happily continue creating.
I have always had a passion for exploring, adventuring and trying new, exciting things, and coupled with photography, that simple passion is the basis for my blog.
Thanks in advance for reading, following and supporting.
And one more thing.
If you would like to contact me for an adventure or to ask for my photography services, just drop a comment.
